This 18k gold bracelet is shaped as two rams heads, which are both holding a stirrup in their mouths that is connected to a sapphire and diamond cluster. The oval, cabochon cut natural sapphire in the center has an estimated weight of 1.00 carats, and is encircled by a halo of diamonds, with a combined estimated weight of 0.36 carats. The bracelet is completed by two domed cabochon sapphires on each shoulder, and both heads are also set with brilliant-cut diamonds on their horns, and round-cut rubies in their eyes.
The symbol of the ram has a very ancient history and was particularly popular in the ancient cultures around the Mediterranean sea, where it can be found in ancient Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek, and Phoenician designs. The ram was a symbol of legendary strength and virility, and as a leader and protector of his flock. Sacrificing a ram, therefore had a potent symbolic function, which connected this mighty animal to the divine world.
