These 18k yellow gold earrings resemble a lotus bud, of which the outlines are inlaid with lapis lazuli. Their design is clearly inspired by ancient Egyptian designs, in which lapis lazuli was often used.
The lily, one of the most depicted flowers in ancient Egyptian designs, was used as a symbol of rebirth and the eternal cycle of night and day, because its petals close up each evening, to open up again when the sun rises.
