This 18kt yellow gold locket is set with an onyx plaque at the front and back, and is further decorated with black enamel. The front onyx is decorated with a gold star, set with a rose-cut diamond, and the back is decorated with a cross, encrusted with rose-cut diamonds and encircled by a rose-cut diamond border.
It is very likely that this locket was originally worn as a piece of mourning jewellery, and would have contained a picture or personal memento of a deceased loved one. Please note that originally, the inside would have had two frames to hold a picture, but these are currently missing.
