This delightful small butterfly brooch is such a beauty to behold and will add a touch of elegance to any outfit.
Its body is set with an oval-cut synthetic sapphire, a round-cut natural emerald and two small round-cut natural rubies. Its wings are studded with fourteen rose-cut diamonds. All gemstones are set in open settings, allowing light to pass through the stones.
In the late 19th Century, small novelty brooches in the shape of animals or flowers were worn often. Little insects such as bugs, spiders and butterflies were especially popular, and added some whimsy and humor to an outfit.
