These pretty yellow gold earrings are each set with a faceted round amethyst with a diameter of 14 mm, which dangle from hook earrings which have been decorated with a circular filigree element.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February, and has been used in jewellery for millennia. Its name comes from the Greek word amethystos, meaning “not intoxicated,” stemming from the ancient belief that the stone could prevent drunkenness and promote clarity of mind. The Greeks even crafted drinking vessels from amethyst, thinking they would ward off the effects of wine. Similarly, the Romans associated amethyst with the god Bacchus, cementing its connection to temperance and sobriety.
