Marquise Ring
This 14k gold ring has an open-worked marquise-shaped silver front, which is set with several rose-cut diamonds, the largest measuring 4.5 x 3.5 mm.
Traditionally, diamonds were set in silver to enhance their colour and brilliance. The rest of the jewel would be made from gold, which added sturdiness and prevented the silver from tarnishing and potentially staining skin or clothing.

Material: Hallmarked for 14k gold and 925/1000 silver.
Condition: In antique condition with signs of wear, consistent with age. Originally, the rim of the front setting was set with tiny rose-cut throughout: over time, some of these settings have rubbed away. This can be seen in the pictures.
Thistle Ring
This 18k gold ring depicts a stylised thistle, set with eleven rose-cut diamonds in open silver settings.

All diamonds are set in open settings, allowing light to pass through the stones and making this ring easy to clean.
