These 18k yellow gold earrings are each set with a tiny old mine-cut diamond in a so-called buttercup setting, each weighing an estimated 0.05 carats.

The ear studs are fastened with screw settings, which will assure that they stay put safely when you wear them. Because of this, their posts are a little thicker than average ear studs.

From the early 18th century to the late 19th century, the old-mine cut was one of the most common diamond cuts used in jewellery. You can recognize an old mine-cut diamond by its squarish shape and different proportions: it typically has a smaller table, larger culet and a higher crown. It also has short lower half facets and a girdle that is very thin in places and, as a result of these factors, an old mine-cut diamond has a very distinctive look and a very unique character.
