This Old European-cut diamond in a platinum setting was originally part of a different antique jewel, likely a brooch. At some point in time, it was converted into this necklace, by adding a silver, anchor link chain, completed by a c-clasp.
The diamond has an estimated weight of 0.57 carats, an estimated colour H, and VS quality. The Old European-cut is the predecessor of our modern round brilliant-cut, and was used primarily in jewelry between 1890 and 1930. It is very similar in appearance to a modern brilliant, yet has a higher crown, deeper pavilion, and the tip of the diamond has a tiny facet too, known as the culet.
