This lapis lazuli orb is 'crowned' by a gold setting, studded with a row of tiny rose-cut diamonds.
The orb is an emblem of royal power, The ball as a symbol of the cosmos, or of the universe as a harmonious whole, is derived from the ancient Romans, who associated it with Jupiter. Emperors would be depicted with an orb to signal that they were Jupiter's earthly representative. In later Christian iconography, the orb will often be crowned by a cross.
This pendant is currently offered without a necklace, but I have several of varying lengths in stock: feel free to contact me if you would like to inquire about adding a necklace to your purchase.
