This device might not be much used today, but was used often during the roaring twenties. Even though we now appreciate the carbonization in champagne, for a while it was considered not chic to drink carbonated wines.
Champagne was therefore often drunk out of coupes instead of flutes, which decreased the bubbles fast. However, for those desiring not to have any bubbles at all, this handy little pendant could be used to stir the last bubbles out of your coupe of champagne before drinking it. How convenient!
This example is particular fabulous, because it has a trumpet-like shape which has been engraved with a swirl pattern. The little pusher of the mechanism and all individual whiskers have been set with a tiny cabochon-cut sapphire.
