This marquise-shaped brooch was likely gifted at an engagement or wedding since it is clearly a token of love! Behind a glass panel lays a tiny artwork made from carved mother-of-pearl with gold details, finished by little seed pearls, on a blue guilloché enamel background.
Depicted are a basket of fruits and flowers -a symbol of abundance- on the left, and two burning hearts on a plinth on the right. These two hearts represent two souls that have been united in love. Two doves are busying themselves by carrying a flower garland to crown this romantic scene.
