This sweet little pendant was originally worn as a remembrance token of a family member, friend, or lover! It is centered by a glass paneled locket, which opens from the back. The locket currently contains a mother of pearl plaque, with a hair work rebus. The rebus depicts a pansy flower, so when read aloud with the text next to it says: 'Pense a Moi' French for 'Think of Me'.
The glass locket is fitted in a wreath-like setting, which is set with alternating table-cut rubies and seed pearls.
The glass locket can currently be popped out of this setting, which is convenient if you would like to fill the back with something personal. I would however advise you to resolder it before you wear it extensively. Age: Late 18th Century, also known as the Georgian era, circa 1780s.
Material: Acid tested as 18k gold.
Condition: In good antique condition with only minor wear, consistent with its age. The jump ring was repaired at some point in the past: this can be seen on the back, but is not visible when worn. As mentioned above, the glass locket can currently be removed from the gemstone setting.
