This porcelain bottle is decorated in pink, green, and gold enamel and the message ''Sincère amitié', which translates to 'sincere friendship'. It is fitted with an 18k gold screw cap that is fitted with a bale, making it wearable as a pendant.
Tiny scent bottles like this example would often be worn on a chatelaine, a girdle that would carry personal items for everyday use. These chatelaines were not only practical but also had a highly decorative function, and would display someone's wealth and taste. Based on its motto, it is likely that this bottle was gifted between friends.
