This little cardboard box with a mirrored front was originally used as a sewing kit. The box is decorated with several neoclassical images, which were very popular during this period.
The mirrored lid depicts a young lady who is interrupted playing music - with a lyre tossed at her feet - by Cupid. Inside is another mirror, and two mirrored compartments, one showing a lady typing a love letter to a dove, the other depicting Cupid and the rebus 'pensee a moi' (think of me).
Inside is a little needle holder, still holding a few needles, a needle case, and a dance card holder, which would have originally held a tiny pencil.
All in all, this box contained almost everything a Georgian lady needed for a leisurely afternoon of hand working and socializing.

Condition: This box is in antique condition with wear, consistent with its age. Both the exterior and interior have little scuffs, marks, and minor losses to its decorations, as can be seen in the pictures. The mirrors are all in good condition with no cracks or damages.
