The design of this delicate crescent moon brooch is set with several old brilliant-cut and rose-cut diamond jewels. At its bottom dangle three natural, greyish-pink coloured pearls, which gently sway when you move around. All diamonds are placed in open, silver settings, allowing light to pass through the stones.
Celestial symbols such as the moon and stars were very popular from the second half of the 19th Century onwards, when the upcoming science of astronomy revealed a fascinating world outside our own. The discovery of several planets and meteorites created a new interest in outer space, and as a consequence, jewels shaped as moons, stars, and meteorites became a huge trend.
