This striking 18k yellow gold ring depicts two dragons, their wings forming a heart shape. Between the mouths of both creatures rests a small cream-coloured pearl.
In Art Nouveau jewellery, dragons were used as a symbol of mystery and the supernatural. Inspired by medieval legends and the growing interest in fantasy and nature, jewellers often depicted dragons with flowing, sinuous forms that echoed the organic lines characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. They represented both the beauty and the mysterious, untamed forces of nature that fascinated Art Nouveau artists.
