The famous Art Deco movement from the 1920s and '30s was heavily inspired by the geometric patterns used in Cubist and Abstract art. The design of this ring is a clear example of this trend.
It is made from 18k white gold and centered by a table-cut green tourmaline, which has an estimated weight of 1.75 carats. The design is completed by rows of single-cut and rose-cut diamonds around the tourmaline and on the shoulders of the shank.
The settings of the diamonds are encircled by a patterned detail known as 'mille-grain' or thousand grains: this technique was often used in both platinum and white gold jewels. The sides of the shoulders are engraved with a floral pattern, another typical feature of this era.
