This 18k white gold ‘Toi et Moi’ ring has a wavy shank which is set with two semi round old-brilliant cut diamonds, each with an approximate weight of 0.50 carats, H-I colour and piqué quality. The design is completed by two smaller old-cut diamonds of approximately 0.01 carats.
'Toi et Moi' means you and me in French and refers to a ring set with two stones set at an angle of each other - often two diamonds, but Toi et Moi rings also exist with sapphires, pearls, or a different combination of gemstones. This design was a typical engagement ring during the late 19th and early 20th Century, symbolizing two intertwined souls. Napoleon Bonaparte famously gifted his Josephine with a diamond and sapphire Toi et Moi engagement ring.
