This 18k rose gold ‘Toi et Moi’ ring has a wavy shank which is set with an old mine-cut diamond of approximately 0.40 carat and a natural round-cut sapphire of approximately 0.40 carat.
'Toi et Moi' means you and me in French and refers to a ring set with two stones set at an angle to each other - often two diamonds, but Toi et Moi rings also exist with sapphires, pearls, or a different combination of gemstones.
The toi et moi design was a typical engagement ring during the late 19th and early 20th Century, symbolizing two intertwined souls. Napoleon Bonaparte famously gifted Josephine a diamond-and-sapphire Toi et Moi engagement ring.
