19th-century-engraved-turquoise-vinaigrette-pendant
19th Century Engraved Turquoise Vinaigrette Pendant

This 18k gold vinaigrette is set with an oval turquoise, which has an interesting engraving on its surface. It is difficult to see with the naked eye, but the gem is engraved with an oval border, with several tiny stars and possibly some letters, though I was unfortunately unable to identify the script. In the last picture, you can see an imprint of this intaglio engraving.

The back of the pendant has a lid with a beautiful open-worked floral engraving. It likely originally held a scented cloth inside, giving off a nice fragrance when worn.

Currently, this pendant is being offered without a necklace: feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss adding one to your order.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Size: 23 x 10 x 13 mm excluding the bale and jump ring.

Weight: 6.50 grams.

Age: Late 19th Century, circa 1890s; the turquoise is possibly older.

Material: Hallmarked with French import hallmarks for 18k gold.

Condition: In great antique condition with some wear, consistent with age.

Please note that the antique box is for display purposes.
