The front of this 14k yellow gold cross pendant is decorated with black enamel. The back hides a little compartment, which likely originally contained a piece of hair or other personal mementos, making this a piece of religious mourning jewellery.

Age: 19th Century, also known as the Victorian era, circa 1860s.
Material: The original hallmark at the bale has faded, it was therefore acid tested as 18k gold.
Condition: In good antique condition with only minor wear, consistent with age.
