This 18k yellow gold crescent moon-shaped brooch is set with three natural sapphires and six tiny natural seed pearls.
The Victorian era (1837-1901) was a time when symbolism was frequently used in jewellery designs. The crescent moon was one of the most popular designs used since it symbolised not only the cycles of nature and time, but also the female body and femininity. Therefore, this brooch in the shape of a young moon is a very typical example of the jewellery worn in this era.
