This charming silver and 14k gold brooch is shaped like a little rosebud, centered by an unusual pear-shaped rose-cut diamond which measures 10x6 mm.
Traditionally, rose-cut diamonds were set in silver to optimize their colour and brilliance, while the gold back prevented the silver from tarnishing and potentially staining skin or clothing. There is a little hook at the back, which was originally used to secure a long watch chain.
