This lovely Toi et Moi ring is made from 14k yellow gold and a platinum front. It is set with two round rose-cut diamonds, one measuring circa 6.8 x 7 mm and the other circa 6.8 x 6.5 mm, with an estimated weight of 0.48 and 0.44 carats. Originally these diamonds were placed in closed settings, but these were opened to ensure that the ring is easier to clean and maintain.
'Toi et Moi' means you and me in French and refers to a ring set with two stones set at an angle of each other - often two diamonds, but Toi et Moi rings also exist with sapphires, pearls, or a different combination of gemstones. This design was a typical engagement ring during the late 19th and early 20th Century, symbolizing two intertwined souls. Napoleon Bonaparte famously gifted his Josephine with a diamond and sapphire Toi et Moi engagement ring.
