This delicate necklace is strung with numerous tiny drilled natural seed pearls, interspersed with twenty-five oval-shaped faceted amethysts in ascending sizes. Looking closely, you'll notice that each amethyst has been carved to create room for two little bales on top of the gemstone. Its design is completed by a 15k gold hexagonal barrel clasp.
Necklaces like this were very popular around 1900, but most of them only have a few amethyst dangling in the front, it is quite unusual to find one with the gemstones placed all around the necklace!
