This 18k ring is centered by a fire opal, encircled by a flower-shaped border studded with brilliant-cut diamonds.
Fire opal is distinctive for its warm colours, ranging from yellow and orange to vivid red. Unlike many other opals which are prized for their colorful play of colour, fire opals can have a transparent to translucent body and may show little or no play-of-color. In this particular specimen, the fire opal is faceted at the bottom and cabochon-cut at the top. This ensures that the relatively brittle opal does not chip at the top while you wear it, while the back facets help create depth in its play of colour.

Material and age: Hallmarked for 18k gold, London, and 'T' for 1993. It is also carries a maker's mark, which I was not able to identify.
Condition: In great vintage condition with only minor signs of wear, consistent with age.
