This stunning yellow gold ring has an oval front setting made from blue enamel, which set with seven antique-cut diamonds. The central cushion-cut diamond has an estimated weight of 0.45 carats and is flanked on both sides by six smaller rose-cut diamonds, all placed in closed, silver settings.
'Bague au Firmament' rings were designed to emulate the night sky by using a royal blue enamel background for an array of sparkling diamonds. This trend was started in France in the second half of the 18th Century, when Mary Antoinette was famously given a ring in this style to celebrate her first pregnancy by her husband, King Louis XVI. The style thereafter quickly grew popular in the rest of Europe.
