This 18k gold hollow, hinged bracelet is studded with a row of cabochon-cut turquoises on its front. I would describe its colour as a soft rose gold: like a lot of antique gold jewels, its colour is a bit more rosy than modern yellow gold, yet softer than modern rose gold.
It opens and closes with a box-clasp and is fitted with a safety chain that prevents it from slipping off unnoticed.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Size: Inner dimensions: 48x57 mm, inner circumference 16.5 cm or 6.5 inches. 7 mm wide.
Weight: 12.00 grams.
Age: 19th Century, also known as the Victorian era, circa 1860s.
Material: Hallmarked with both a rhinoceros head and an eagle head, both French hallmarks for 18k gold: the placement of these hallmarks on the box clasp indicates that the bracelet weighs 12 grams, a measurement system that has been in use since the 19th Century.
Condition: In antique condition with signs of wear, consistent with age. The plain gold back has received some significant dents that cannot be smoothed out; these can be seen in the pictures. I have added the last two pictures because they show these dents most accurately.
