This rose-cut diamond ring is shaped like a silver dove, studded with rose-cut diamonds. If you look closely, you will notice that she is holding a golden branch in her mouth, which waves out to form part of the ring shank.
The image of a dove holding a branch has its roots in biblical tradition. In the Old Testament, Noah sends out a dove from his ark after a huge flood has covered the earth in water. When she returns carrying an olive branch, he knows Earth is ready to be repopulated again. Over time, a dove carrying a branch has become a symbol of peace.

Condition: In good antique condition with minor wear, consistent with its age. I believe that the shank was replaced in the past. The branch originall had a floral element, which has gently faded with wear over time. The small diamond in the head of the dove was missing and has been replaced.
