This 14k gold ring is fitted with an oval glass panel, behind which we can see a hairwork depiction of three forget-me-not flowers.
In the 19th century, before the invention of photography and telephones, carrying around a literal piece of a loved one would have had a very significant meaning. Therefore, jewels that contained a piece of hair were very popular. A lot of jewelers specialized in creating designs from hair, and popular ladies' magazines even gave descriptions on how these works of art could be created at home.

The oval setting measures 10x8 mm.
This ring can be resized if desired.
Weight: 1.32 grams.
Age: 19th Century, circa 1860s.
Material: Hallmarked with a Dutch oak leaf hallmark for 14k gold, used between 1853 and 1905.
Condition: In good antique condition with only minor wear, consistent with age. Originally, the flowers had three tiny seed pearls set at their hearts, but these have come loose and are visible inside the setting.
The shank is currently slightly misshapen: I will have this fixed upon its sale, also depending on if you would like to have it resized.
