This 18k yellow gold Fleur de Lis brooch is set with three old mine-cut diamonds, of circa 0.23, 0.25, and 0.23 carats.
The 'Fleur de Lis' symbol depicts a stylized lily or iris flower. Although it is not known when the symbol originates from, traditionally the symbol has been used to represent light, life, and unity. It has been used by a lot of historic important kingdoms, most famously the French royal family. It is however also used in a lot of other family crests and city symbols, for instance in the city of Florence.

Age: 19th Century, circa 1860s.
Material: Hallmarked with a French eagle's head for 18k gold, used since 1838.
Condition: The brooch is in good antique condition with only minor wear, consistent with its age. All diamonds appear to be original to the piece and there are no old repairs or damages visible.
